yesterday we walked into our favorite antique shop. and there she was.
isn't she something?
it was as though she knew my name
and gently called me over
 ; )
i stood before her dreaming of all the letters that had been written from her
hmm...
look at those legs

she has a beautiful bottom base... for books maybe?

did i mention her beautiful legs?
how about those curves?

as i stood there falling in love. the shop owner spoke to me about her history.
the owner said he gathered a few beautiful pieces from an estate sale where most of the items were circa 1915-1921. she was marked 1915. but all that doesn't matter~ her tag read, library/mission desk. doesn't that read beautifully? : )

and before i knew it, hubby was whispering little things in my ear...
writing letters
writing that cookbook
editing photos
listening to music
"a gift from me to you"
poetry

and so she came home with us
; )
even my mother couldn't help but smile at the sight of my new desk

she said it reminded her of a desk, where my, great aunt, used to write and read her bible.

i loved hearing that~

so, pink majolica, roses, found their way into my cart today.
oh i love them SO.

the news paper is still all over the house
my red beans are soaking for monday ; )

happy sunday, my friends!

ps: love to new orleans. hurricane katrina still leaves me tender. my faith leads me.

one love~

"I thought her Creole gumbo was the finest in the world. Her cabbage
and rice was marvelous. As for red beans and rice, well, I don't have
to say anything about that. It is my birthmark."

What a beautiful post and a beautiful piece with a history that could take our imagination sailing...

My heart goes out to New Orleans...I got very choked up watching it last night on CNN. God bless those souls...such survivors...treated so wrong...in a country that runs to help so many other countries... it makes me wonder "why?".

Love and blessings,
Robin

spent a surprise evening with kath and her hubby, and to our delight found a whimsical white cabinet at an antique store. drove home seven hours with my hand resting on the cabinet to stop the squeaking but she looks beautiful in our home. the legs on your desk, voluptuous.

What a beauty so rich with history awaiting your creativity to add to the story of a Mission library table/desk. And roses...romantic and amazing.

She is lovely...and looks right at home...:)

Did I read "cook book"? Can't wait...xox

I love how you refer to the table as "she." In Spanish, "table" is a feminine word, "la mesa." And you're right, she is a beauty!

my eyes welled up reading this, your great grand reading her bible at a desk like that.

my writing desk is circa 1940's I think.

what a gorgeous desk!! i see great things coming from you and her partnering together, christine. i know, i am still rather blown away that it's been 5 yrs since katrina, feels like yesterday. we watched with heartache from afar but i felt the deep sorrow and sadness across the distance.

Hello Beautiful Soul sista!

I received the sweetest package from you and tears of joy welled in my eyes. I felt SO loved and I thank you with my whole heart.

Seeing your beautiful desk reminds me of my beautiful desk I lost to Katrina. *sigh*

I have a new desk that I love dearly, but none will come to my original, which I to purchased from an antique store as a birthday gift to myself.
