over the weekend

i always find these flowers so pretty. what's the name of them? oh, they are happy flowers, bursting with joy and emotion. unfortunately they are planted and blooming in a center island of a busy street. so what else can a girl do, but go early morning, and smile behind the lens.

the flowers, they are for you! thank you, thank you, for the birthday wishes, the party, the love. i still shake the stars from my head, not believing, that so much love, could radiate in one corner of the world. that love makes my world go around. : ) thank you for making me a part of it. this was my first birthday party~ too shy for the ones i have show up for personally. lol
i am humbled by your kindness.

*****************************

guess what i did this weekend? i opened the sweetest of b-day gift from hubby and got to canning!!
yes mam! me! the beautiful, cora, held my hand through it all. ; ) xoxo

i have wanted to can since i was 12 years old. better late than never!
let's cross it off, the dreaming/bucket list. ; ) life is for living. ; )
who hoo!

char, how was your b-day? i thought of you. ; ) i send you love.

hoping you all are well, my friends.

one love~

and yep, they're cone flowers and we have them all around us and in the prairie at the cottage, but not as many as i wish.....they really are a happy flower and honestly, i think the dead or dying ones are even prettier than the alive ones.

Beautiful! Those happy beauties are echinacea purpurea or as Naquility said, coneflowers. Ohhh splendid! Doesn't making strawberry jam and canning just make you feel wonderfully productive? Such lovely red jars of scrumptious!

Wasn't it a fabulous party?!

Yup, those flowers are echinacea (the power flower behind natural cold medications).
I think having them grow in your yard probably keeps you healthy ; )

When I saw those purple happy flowers my first thought was...how lucky that you have a field close by to take photos...then laughed when you said they are in the middle of a street. That's what I love about photography...you can dream up your version of the photo :)

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend...I so enjoyed celebrating with you!

It looks like we both learned new things this weekend...but I think canning is much harder than making margaritas!!!

Echinacea are one of the few flowers that bloom well for me in my dry, neglected flower garden...so of course I love them dearly:) Your photos of them are divine.

Making strawberry jam is a lovely way to spend a birthday...especially when you take such pretty photos of it:)

Oh, I wanted to make strawberry jam this year, but the season is so short here in Oregon and I think I missed it. Your jam looks amazing, yummmmo! Several had told you what the flower is; so I won't repeat it. But it is one I do also love.

Barnanbas said...

you jams look delicious enjoy... yummy.... god bless you and yours.

elizabeth said...

You jammed! I mean canned. I'd like to do it just for the photos. ;)

I think they're echinacea flowers. At least, I have photos of flowers that look just like that. The only reason I know mine are echinacea is because I took them at the farmers' market and they were labeled. :)

Natasha said...

I never knew they were cone flowers! You learn something new everyday don't you!

Best wishes,
Natasha.

Mmmm... what a yummy gift. I've always wanted to can, too. And of course, you make the whole process beautifully eye-pleasing.

Glad you enjoyed your party!

Hi Christina, the flowers are rudbeckia, commonly referred to as coneflowers. Butterflies and golffinches and bumble bees love them. So do I!

Your strawberry jam looks fantastic! I'm sure it takes even better than it looks.

Those flowers are called Echinacea. We have them growing on our allotment but they aren't as far on as yours.
I also have been enjoying the jam making production line these past weeks and now we're moving into the raspberry jam and in a couple of weeks it will be Blackberrys - yum.
You can see all about it on my other blog

Belated Birthday Wishes, Christina.

your photos just take my breath away.

I haven't made jam in a couple of years, perhaps I'll catch the tale end of raspberry season. And some of that twine.

life is for living indeed.

I'm not much for cute jars, but the strawberry jam inside of them sure would be a bonus!

Beautiful. I just recently became aware of coneflowers although I'm not sure I've ever seen them in person. I've seen them in the blogosphere a lot lately, though, they're really lovely, unusual flowers. I assume they're related to sunflowers.
