along the water + a love letter

there is a thaw in the air, and i appreciate it. it took some time, but i love it just the same. i will enjoy it today, it may be gone tomorrow. walking along the water, gives me great joy. it was like seeing an old friend.

hello Jamaica, off your tongue rolls the sweetest poetry, filled with love and steel roof dreams. swaying de breezes... serenading me, knowing exactly what to say. calling my name, especially at night, in dreams. holding me close. soon come, soon come. the moon will be my night light to you, leading my bare feet, your way. and if a blessing of morning arrives,  the sun will wake us, and take us by the hand, to faces with pride and hearts of gold.

the water is so big, yet small enough and close enough, to hear my thoughts : ) you should have seen me walking along... giving the water my heart, unloading my shoulders, shaking my head at the thought of spring, bringing baskets full of all things new.

i lifted my arms toward the sky, for me and you. 'cause reaching my palms toward the sky and letting go, makes all the difference... as if to say,  i love every minute of it,  the good + bad.

one love~

Ahh Spring always awakens a craving for water and thoughts of lands that lie across the water too. I hope you're having a lovely March, sweet Christina!

A beautiful love letter, Christina. I love imagining you walking along the tideline with palms up -- and heart open. I wish we all could live that way, open to giving and receiving, every day. :)

I'm so glad you raised your arms to the heavens and opened your heart to the waters that feed our souls. I miss that so very much.

This is such a beautifully written post, Christina. I've never been to Jamaica...it sounds like Paradise. Do you visit there often?

It's gorgeous outside today, here in NJ. Yesterday, I walked around in a tank top. Ahhh! Finally - spring!

Made me think of a poem I just read:

-excerpt from Mindful, a poem byMary Oliver

I say to myself, how can you help but grow wise
with such teachings as these-
the untrimmable light
of the world,
the ocean's shine,
the prayers that are made
out of grass?

Loved your line about raising your arms and hands to the heavens in gesture of release. Reminded me of Sunday Praise and Worship services. Sigh....

There with you, as always. Hands to the sky, eyes to the wind and watching the times, good and bad passing by. Loving it all, and you.

There is so much beauty at the ocean, and you've captured it so well here, seeing an old friend.

This part stirred my soul and inspired me, it felt like spring on the inside:

lifted my arms toward the sky, for me and you. 'cause reaching my palms toward the sky and letting go, makes all the difference... as if to say, i love every minute of it, the good + bad.

Grateful to you!

Raising one's arms toward the sky does feel so good, so free. I adore walks by the water too. I'm glad you enjoyed yours. I've only visited Jamaica 3 times, but found it to be a beautiful place. During my trips there was often a brief warm rain near sunset, just a few minutes, and that was all. I really loved that warm rain. Enjoy your eve.
