that new baby smell

seeing a newborn child warms me with...
a love that is one in a million
poetry that has yet to be written
songs yet to be sung
*
i am convinced that new baby smell surely must be the breath of God
blown upon a child
blessing him with life
+
 filling him with hope
*
my new baby cousin~ j.d.
resting his tiny hand inside his daddy's palm
9.5lbs

What a beautiful baby and photo! That photo reminds me of the night when my first baby, Matthew was born...I was looking out the window on a rainy evening in the hospital room holding by baby and just feeling so at peace. Babies look so peaceful when they are resting...!

Have a beautiful day, Christina! :) xxoo

There is a Dickens quote, "It is not a slight thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us.” and I always thought, I wish I could write like that. You, Empress Christina, DO write like that. What a precious photo, and words to go with it. Congrats to the family!

"...surely must be the breath of God."

love it.

read or heard somewhere long ago something about how when we breathe we aren't really doing anything except catching the breath of God--God is doing the work for us.

enjoy that baby.

Such a beautiful baby! I love his little lips and hands. I just want to kiss him. I've been like this about babies ever since my grandchildren were born in far off places. I didn't get to spend nearly enough time with them as babies. So, not I love babies even more than I did before!

I love the beautiful photo of his daddy's hand and his little hand. So precious!

I love even more, the thought that new baby smell is the breath of God. I've never thought that myself, but I will always think it from now on. So beautiful. Thank you.

Jaime said...

oh.

SO precious. And yes..that baby smell...there is nothing more wonderful is there?

ieva jansone said...

yes!!! the smell! exactly!.. it fades too fast, the newborn smell..you know, with my third kid, anabel, i really postponed and postponed her first bath - hoping to keep that smell longer! (actually babies aren't dirty, it's some kind of our western civilisation tick for perfectness and cleaning;)
