the everyday

I am in a strange place, as far as photography goes. It just seems the everyday, is easing into my lens, more and more. And I kind of love that. The everyday is what I think I will appreciate looking back on, when I'm older. ; )
The other day my tough love photography mentor, gave me a lesson to do on my own. He called yesterday to see if I had any luck, with the assignment. Not exactly I explained. But...
i ran through the sprinkler with the kids
got a picture of my daughter next to a flower that a few years ago she could barely reach
combed through my afro so we could play "afro samurai"
played sizzla on volume 12
blew bubbles
and could of swore i got 3 feet of water splash in the water balloon slam
(the neighborhood kids beg to differ) ; )
He just laughed and said-" email me the picture and turn that damn music down"
lol
; )

23 ladlefuls of love:

Christina,
May I ask what type of camera you rock, I mean use?
: + ) You really are a rock star behind that lens. ; ) Do you ever use reflectors for your street shots? : )

Her outfit is sweet, such style - and the clematis has almost as much.

I like how your thoughts and photos come - totally easy - not that it IS easy, just feels it.

While we should all learn to stretch our wings, it is with what we know that we are able to express ourselves best. Through your lens I see love...

wv: funess: fun and finesse, just the right blend, the focus of your lens...

amina* I shoot with a canon 50d and i have never used a reflector for my street shots. ; ) you can usually catch a nice reflection after a rain.

Sounds like a perfectly wonderful day!...I love photos of the everyday and I'm more naturally drawn to them...that is not to say that I don't enjoy looking at more adventurous kinds of photography... lucky you to have a wise mentor!

I would carry your camera bag in 110 degree heat. In order to see you shoot some concrete.

HA! No kidding, I would.

Gorgeous, natural capture!

Oh she's lovely, this is such a sweet moment. I so agree, the everyday IS our every day life...every single day of it. since I got a bit more serious about photography I realise I lack those 'family snap' type shots..I have a lot of lovely portraits, but none of us hanging out, doing 'stuff'...a shame as that is what the memories will be made of. x

You are in the right place Christina!
With your family enjoying them while you can. AND it is wonderful that you have Soul Aperture....your words, your photos your creative expression for YOU.
A blog make a person look at life, differently don't you think?
Also, your creativity will be a gift to you, your strength as your children grow to adulthood.

It's nice that your teacher pushes you also.
